Product Search Help

There are over 30,000 NTN products in our on-line database. Everything from tiny micro bearings to large industrial mounted units. You may search for NTN products in several ways:
  • By NTN Part Number
You can search for exact NTN Part Numbers (e.g.: 6203LLUNRC3/5C), or by partial NTN Part Numbers (e.g.: all bearings that start with 620...).

  • By Competitor's Part Number
You can select from more than 180 other manufacturers, and then search by their part numbers (exact or partial) to find equivalent NTN products.

  • By NTN Product Category, Type, Size, and Features
You can find any NTN product by its characteristics ... gradually narrowing your search until you arrive at precisely the product you want.

There are also several Hints and Tips to help you with your searches, printing detailed data sheets, downloading DXF drawing files, etc..

Searching by NTN Part Number
[ Top ^ ]

  • First, be sure NTN BEARING CORP. is in the "Select Manufacturer" dropdown list box.
TIP: To quickly select NTN Bearing Corp. and clear the Part Number box at the same time, click the "Start Over" button.

  • If you think you know the exact NTN Part Number you are looking for, just type it in the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box (e.g.: 6203LLU), make sure that the "Exact Part Number" radio button is selected (just click on the words "Exact Part Number" to select it; a black dot will appear to the left of the words when it is selected), and click the "Search" button.

If the exact NTN Part Number you typed in exists in the database, you will be taken directly to the Detailed Data Specification Sheet for that part number.

If the NTN Part Number you typed in does not exist in the database, you will be taken to the "Nothing Found ..." page. This can happen for a couple of reasons:

    1. You made a mistake when typing in the part number. Use the Back Button in your browser to return to the Search Page and check the number, re-typing it if necessary. HINT: A common mistake is to type the letter "O," when you really meant the numeral "0."  TIP: The Part Number box is not case-sensitive ... searching for 6203LLU is the same as 6203llu.

    2. The part number you typed in is valid, but the part is not yet in the on-line catalog's database. You can ask for assistance via e-mail from the
NTN Product Engineering and Technical Support Team.

  • If you don't know the exact part number, but you think you know what the part number begins with, click the "Part Number begins with ..." button, and type as much of the number as you know into the box. Your results will vary, depending on how many "hits" your search returns ...

For example, if your search results in:

More than 10 hits — you will get back a page where you can narrow your search by specifying a measurement (Bore, O.D., or Width), or a particular feature (seal, shields, etc.). For example, if you were to enter "620" in the Part Number box, you would get back 2,315 records! Obviously, this is a bit too many to scroll through, so the results page gives you additional choices with which to narrow your search to a more manageable number.

2 to 10 hits — you will get back a list of the products that match your search. Each of the listings will show all of the features for each product, and the exact complete part number. You may then select the exact product you want from this list.

Exactly 1 Hit — you will be taken directly to the Detailed Specification Sheet for that product, which you may review on-screen, print out on your laser printer, or download a DXF drawing file for that product (if one is available).

No Hits — You'll get the "Nothing Found ..." page, as described above.

Searching by Competitor's Part Number
[ Top ^ ]

When you Search by Competitor's Part Number, you are actually searching for an NTN part (or parts) which can be substituted for — i.e.: is an interchange for — the competitor's part.
  • First, select the target manufacturer from the "Select Manufacturer" dropdown list box. For example, if you are looking for an NTN interchange for an FAG bearing, select "FAG" from the "Select Manufacturer" dropdown list.

  • Next, enter the target manufacturer's part number (FAG's Part Number, in this example) in the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box.

  • Make sure the appropriate option is selected under the Part Number box ("Exact Part Number" or "Part Number Begins With ...").
TIP: If you get no results using the Exact Part Number option, try the same search but use the Part Number Begins With ... option.

  • Click the Search button ...

The results of your search will be the NTN part (or parts) which can be substituted for the competitor's part. (If you know you've entered a correct part number for another manufacturer's product, but the system does not return any equivalent NTN parts, it doesn't necessarily mean that NTN does not make a suitable interchange ... it may just not be in the on-line interchange database. E-mail your questions to the NTN Product Engineering and Technical Support Team.}

Searching by Category, Type, Size, and Features
[ Top ^ ]

This is what's called a "drill-down" search. You start with the broadest general definition of what you're looking for (the Category), and then "drill down" through more and more specific layers of definition (the Type, the Size, and the Features), until you reach the exact product you're after.
  • First, select the general Category into which your target fits. (Ball Bearings, Roller Bearings, Mounted Units — Eccentric Collar Type, etc.)

  • Whichever Category you select will take you to a page listing all the various Product Types within that Category. On this page, select the Type of product you're looking for.

  • This takes you to the next step in the "drill-down," where you select the Size you want. For some products, you may have several different dimensions which you may specify (in the case of Ball Bearings, for example, you could specify Bore, Outside Diameter (O.D.), or Width). For other products, there may be only two, or perhaps even just one, dimension which you can specify.

In any event, if you have more than one dimension which you can specify, select the most important one first (you'll have an opportunity to specify the other dimension(s) later).

After specifying your most critical dimension, your next step will depend on the number of NTN products that match the criteria you have already specified.

For example, if you had selected the Ball Bearing Category, the Single Row Deep Groove Type, and the Bore = 1.1024" (28mm) as your most critical Size, the next page of results you would get back would show that there are 14 bearings which match all of those criteria.

You could then do one of three things:

Click the "Browse These 14 Records" button and view a list of all 14 bearings which match your search criteria so far, or ...

Further narrow your search by specifying an O.D. or a Width dimension, or ...

Further narrow your search by specifying a particular Feature.

(Note that the other dimension choices, and feature choices, are limited by the search criteria you have selected up to this point. In this example, since we have already specified that we are looking for a Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing with a Bore of 1.1024" (28mm), only those dimensions and features which apply to a bearing of that description will be available.)

Hints and Tips
[ Top ^ ]

  • When searching by Part Number, you must enter at least 3 characters (numbers or letters) in the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box.

  • When searching by Part Number, make sure that the search limiter buttons below the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box are properly set, i.e.:
Exact Part Number or Part Number begins with ...

Many bearings have a "basic" bearing number followed by some letters and/or numbers that denote certain features. The result set your search returns may be significantly different depending on how these search limiter buttons are set.

For example, with the search limiter button for "Exact Part Number" turned on, a search for "6203" will return only one bearing (in fact, you'll be taken directly to the detailed specification sheet), but the same search will return 491 records with "Part Number begins with ..." selected as the search limiter!

  • When searching by Part Number, and you don't know an Exact Part Number, nor do you know what the Part Number begins with, but you think that you do know a string of 3 or more characters that appears somewhere within the Part Number, you can do a Part Number contains ... search by preceding the partial Part Number with a percent sign (%).

For example, if you know the bearing you're looking for has a Part Number that contains "302," you can find all bearings in the database that contain "302" by entering "%302" in the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box. (Depending on the character string you enter, you may be taken to a page where you must select the bearing type.)

In order for this Part Number contains ... search to work, you must select the "Part Number begins with ..." search limiter under the "Enter Manufacturer's Part Number" box.

  • Printing Detailed Specification Sheets. The Detailed Specification Sheets (Data Sheets) are designed to print well on 300dpi resolution or higher printers. They are designed for 8.5" x 11" (21.6cm x 28cm) paper. On some printers, the right side and bottom of the Data Sheet may be cut off. If this happens, set the printer's page margins to .25" (.65cm) all around — top, bottom, left, and right.

  • Downloading DXF files. There are two places where you can download a DXF drawing file of a bearing: in the list view, or on the Detailed Specification Sheets. If a DXF file is available for a particular bearing in a list of bearing search results, there will be a link called "DXF File" in the right-most column of the listing. At the bottom of a Detailed Specification Sheet, if a DXF drawing file is available, there will be a button called "Download DXF File."

Different browsers have slightly different methods of downloading files; in some, a simple left-click on the link will do, and in others you will need to right-click on the link and then select "Save Target As ..." or "Save Link As ..." in the drop-down menu that appears.
